 Who are we?

The CORN HAULER (two words, not one) LEATHER AND LEVI CLUB is an alternative organization for gay men and women. Yes, we wear leather and/or levis as a statement, as a fashion or because of both reasons.

  When did we start?

A man called "Mother Barnes" started this club in 1971.  It has matured over the years to become an active participant in the gay community.

 Where are we?

We are based in Des Moines, Iowa.

The home bar for the Corn Haulers L/L Club of Iowa is

The Blazing Saddle

416 East 5th Street, Des Moines, Iowa

 What are our ideals?

1.  Fellowship: among the members of the club, among the independents and among other organized leather clubs.

2. Socializing: to have fun, to do things together and enjoy each other.

3. Charity: supporting, fundraising and helping the gay community and other gay projects.

 What do we do?

Taking our ideals to reality, the club raises money for various local charities.  Part of this money comes from membership dues and by sponsoring monthly beer busts the first Saturday of every month at  The Blazing Saddle.  We also raise money at other bars and events, helping other organizations with their fund-raising. We donate to the AIDS Project of Central Iowa, the All Iowa AIDS Benefit, Breast Cancer and Out Reach of Central Iowa.

Every two years, we commemorate the anniversary of our club's formation by hosting a "run", and invite other Leather/Levi clubs from around the country to come to Des Moines and celebrate with us. We work hard to treat them as honored guests and show them a good time.  This year we proudly celebrate our 31st Anniversary of fellowship and service to the community.
